Unlocking Massive Institutional Markets: MSME Vendor Development Programme Kicks Off in Lucknow with a Focus on GeM and Public Procurement

Empowering grassroots entrepreneurs and integrating micro-industries into the nation’s core supply chains, the two-day Vendor Development Programme commenced today at PHD House, Gomti Nagar, Lucknow. Organised jointly by the MSME-Development Office (Kanpur) and PHDCCI, the event serves as a dynamic bridge connecting small business owners directly with major Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs).
Key Highlights of the Conclave:
Driving the 25% Procurement Mandate: Inaugurating the summit, MSME-Dfo Kanpur Director Shri V.K. Verma highlighted that central ministries and CPSEs are mandated to source 25% of their goods from MSEs, featuring special provisions for women, SC, and ST entrepreneurs.
Leveraging Digital Portals: UP Government Secretary for MSME and Export Promotion, Shri Pranjal Yadav (IAS), stressed that MSMEs account for over 98% of industrial units in the state. He noted that MSMEs hold a massive 45% share (approx. ₹9 lakh crore) on the GeM portal and urged businesses to utilize platforms like TReDS to ensure timely payments.
Institutional Collaboration: Key public sector giants—including RDSO, HAL, ALIMCO, Power Grid Corporation, and NTPC—showcased their massive procurement needs, inviting local vendors to participate in tenders ranging from specialized tech components to maintenance services.
B2B Interactions & Exhibitions: Over 20 industrial stalls displayed cutting-edge technologies and products, followed by dedicated B2B networking sessions enabling direct dialogue between institutional buyers and regional manufacturers.
