SP chief claims farmers, workers, artisans, traders and youth are bearing the brunt; predicts “unexpected results” for BJP in Western Uttar Pradesh in 2027

Samajwadi Party national president and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has launched a sharp attack on the BJP government, alleging that communal and caste-based divisions were systematically created in prosperous Western Uttar Pradesh for political gains, ultimately damaging the region’s economy.
Yadav alleged that the BJP government had pushed agriculture, industries, handicrafts and exports into serious difficulty. He claimed that government recruitment had slowed, sports were not receiving adequate encouragement and the education system was being weakened.
According to the SP chief, farmers are facing pressure over their land and small traders are struggling under what he described as corruption and complications linked to the GST system. He also accused the government of disrespecting sportspersons and weakening opportunities for young people.
Yadav further alleged that attempts were being made to weaken educational institutions and that a conspiracy was underway against schools and Jauhar University. He claimed that women were being intimidated and pushed back into their homes instead of being encouraged to participate fully in public and economic life.
Highlighting Western Uttar Pradesh’s traditional manufacturing and handicraft base, Yadav said the region’s artisans and craftsmen had suffered due to government policies. He also claimed that the impact of an American trade deal and higher tariffs had been particularly damaging for Western UP, affecting farmers as well as factories and handicraft businesses in Moradabad, Aligarh, Saharanpur and Meerut.
The SP president linked the region’s economic difficulties with growing labour unrest and alleged that social tensions had created an atmosphere of fear among traders and business communities. He also referred to incidents involving different social groups to allege that social harmony had been deliberately weakened.
Turning his focus towards the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, Yadav made a strong political prediction. He said the BJP and its allies could face the “most unexpected results” from Western Uttar Pradesh.
Yadav asserted that the region’s voters could no longer be politically influenced through promises or division. He said farmers, workers, artisans, youth, women, sportspersons, artists, shopkeepers, traders, exporters and industrialists had become increasingly aware of what he described as years of neglect, discrimination and hardship.
The SP chief claimed that these sections of society would no longer be misled and that Western Uttar Pradesh could emerge as a major political challenge for the BJP in the 2027 elections.
