The Sports Authority of India (SAI), Netaji Subhas Regional Centre (NSRC) Lucknow, successfully hosted a mega-scale ‘Sundays on Cycle’ (SoC) event at its Shanti Nagar campus. Centered around the inspiring theme “Journalist,” the landmark event aimed to promote holistic health, active living, and the government’s flagship ‘Fit India’ initiatives under the Khelo India Scheme.

Spearheaded by Shri Atma Prakash, Regional Director In-charge, the high-energy gathering witnessed an on-site turnout of around 130 participants, including prominent journalists, students, HAL Cycling Group members, Yogasana Bharat delegates, the Wushu team, and NSRC staff. Amplifying its digital footprint, approximately 1,500 participants from 100 Khelo India Centres (KICs) across Uttar Pradesh and Uttarakhand joined remotely.
The event was graced by Dainik Bhaskar Editor Shri Gaurav Pandey as Chief Guest, alongside esteemed media guests Shri Mumtaz Ali (Akashvani), Shri Fazal Khan (Times of India), Shri Arun Kumar (Swadesh Times), and Shri Alok Verma (HAL).
Action-Packed Activities and Wellness The morning kicked off with vibrant Zumba and Yoga sessions, followed by a dynamic Wushu combat demonstration and exciting fitness challenges like the Lemon Race, Skipping, Push-ups, and Tug of War. A magnificent 6-kilometer cycle rally inside the scenic campus united athletes and journalists in a collective pledge toward fitness. All attendees received official Fit India T-shirts and healthy refreshments.
Senior SAI officials Lt. Col. Gaurav Singh, Shri Manish Kumar, and Shri Praveen Kumar C.M. motivated everyone to embrace physical sports as a lifelong habit to build a healthy, empowered nation.
