The prolonged delay in issuing Ayushman Cards to journalists has triggered strong concern, with the UP Working Journalists Union urging the Information Department to immediately clear pending applications and release a status report.

The union informed Information Director Vishal Singh that a special camp was organized last year where journalists whose applications had failed due to technical or documentation issues were asked to submit fresh forms. However, despite nearly a year passing, a large number of applications remain pending, while many fresh forms were not accepted at all.

A delegation led by Lucknow Division President Shivsharan Singh, along with Shiv Vijay Singh, Anil Kumar Saini, and Anil Tripathi, requested the department to coordinate with the implementing agency and organize fresh camps at the Directorate of Information and district information offices to resolve all pending cases without further delay.

Responding to the concerns, Information Director Vishal Singh announced several measures aimed at easing the process for journalists. He said applicants whose cards are pending can check their application status through the official online portal. If corrections are required, they may approach the office of the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in their respective districts.

He further announced that a dedicated online portal for journalists will be launched shortly. Through this system, journalists who have not yet applied or whose applications remain incomplete will be able to submit their forms online via their respective District Information Officers, making the process faster, more transparent, and hassle-free.

The move is expected to streamline Ayushman Card distribution and ensure eligible journalists receive healthcare benefits without unnecessary delays.
