MoRTH New Rule Ends Inter-District Hassle—Transport Officials Empowered
(Anytime News Network | By Pooja Srivastava)
. In a major relief for commercial vehicle drivers and owners, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has introduced new guidelines allowing vehicle fitness certification within districts that do not yet have Automated Testing Stations (ATS).
Under the revised framework, transport department officials in districts where ATS facilities are under construction or yet to be operational are now authorized to conduct vehicle fitness inspections and issue certificates. Earlier, vehicle owners from such districts had to travel to nearby districts with operational ATS centers, causing inconvenience and additional expenses.
For instance, vehicle owners in Badaun previously relied on ATS facilities in Bareilly for fitness checks. With the new guidelines in place, they can now avail the service within their own district, saving both time and money.
Currently, Uttar Pradesh has 31 operational ATS centers across 26 districts, while construction is underway in 40 more districts. The state government has also set timelines to ensure early completion and activation of these facilities.
Assistant Regional Transport Officer Hariom stated that the new system will directly benefit vehicle owners by reducing logistical burdens and streamlining the process.
