Duty & Discipline Key to Success, Says Khanna at Grand Centenary Event

A grand centenary celebration marking 100 years of the Local Fund Audit Department was held in Lucknow, highlighting its vital role in ensuring financial accountability and transparency in public administration. The event took place at the Malviya Auditorium of Lucknow University and witnessed the presence of key dignitaries, including Uttar Pradesh’s Finance and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna as the chief guest.
The समारोह brought together serving and retired officials of the department, along with distinguished guests such as Pankaj Gupta and the Chief Postmaster General of Uttar Pradesh. The occasion celebrated the department’s remarkable journey since its establishment on April 1, 1926, as an independent unit under the Finance Department.
Over the decades, the department has played a crucial role in auditing urban local bodies, autonomous institutions, and state-aided organizations, thereby ensuring financial discipline and safeguarding public funds. The event also highlighted ongoing modernization efforts, including the transition toward a paperless audit system, aimed at improving efficiency and transparency in line with digital governance goals.
A commemorative souvenir, the department’s official website, and a special postal cover were unveiled during the समारोह, symbolizing the milestone achievement. Additionally, various public welfare initiatives such as tree plantation drives, distribution of clothing, and community outreach programs were organized across the state as part of the centenary celebrations.
Addressing the gathering, Suresh Kumar Khanna emphasized that the audit department acts as a vigilant guardian of public funds. He underlined the importance of duty, discipline, and effective time management as essential pillars for institutional success. He also stressed the need for adopting advanced technologies to enhance the effectiveness and timeliness of audit processes.
