SP Alleges Massive Irregularities in UP Voter Lists Ahead of 2027 Elections

Samajwadi Party has raised serious concerns over alleged large-scale irregularities in Uttar Pradesh voter lists ahead of the 2027 Assembly elections. Acting on the instructions of party chief and former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, state president Shyam Lal Pal submitted a memorandum to the Chief Electoral Officer in Lucknow demanding immediate removal of duplicate, deceased, shifted, and absent voters from electoral rolls across the state.
The party alleged that despite the completion of the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process conducted by the Election Commission between October 2025 and April 2026, voter lists in all 403 Assembly constituencies still contain thousands of duplicate entries. According to the memorandum, serious discrepancies have been identified in districts including Mainpuri, Shravasti, and Jhansi.
SP leaders claimed that in several polling booths, the same voter’s name was repeated multiple times — in some cases four, five, six, and even ten times. In Mainpuri district alone, the party alleged that over 4,000 duplicate voters were found in constituencies such as Bhogaon, Karhal, Kishni, and Mainpuri.
The memorandum also highlighted alleged irregularities in Shravasti district’s Bhinga constituency, where a single voter’s name was reportedly listed ten times. In another unusual case, the name of a voter and the voter’s father were allegedly recorded identically, raising further questions about verification standards.
In Jhansi constituency, the party claimed that names of several deceased voters still remain in the electoral rolls. SP leaders argued that such errors directly undermine the credibility of the electoral process and raise concerns regarding the reliability of the Election Commission’s software and verification mechanisms.
The party warned that unless urgent corrective action is taken, public confidence in the fairness and transparency of the 2027 Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections could be seriously affected. SP representatives demanded a statewide verification campaign to immediately identify and remove duplicate and invalid entries from the voter lists.
The memorandum seeking urgent intervention was submitted by senior party representatives including K.K. Srivastava, Dr. Harishchandra Singh, and Radheshyam Singh.
