Uttar Pradesh’s cooperative sector has recorded significant progress in wheat procurement during the ongoing 2026 purchase season, outperforming last year’s figures during the same period. According to Yogesh, Registrar and Commissioner of the Uttar Pradesh Cooperative Department, the procurement drive started on March 30, 2026 and will continue until June 15, 2026.

The state government has established 3,799 procurement centres across all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh. These include 2,475 centres operated by PCF, 948 by PCU, and 376 under UPSS.

Against a procurement target of 14.55 lakh metric tonnes, the state has already procured 6.45 lakh metric tonnes of wheat, achieving nearly 44 percent of the target. During the same period last year, wheat procurement stood at 4.77 lakh metric tonnes, reflecting a substantial increase this year.

Officials stated that farmers were entitled to payments worth ₹1,66,708 lakh, out of which ₹1,55,907 lakh has already been disbursed. So far, 1,33,576 farmers have benefited from the procurement campaign, compared to 1,05,708 beneficiaries during the corresponding period last year.

Among the top-performing districts, Saharanpur emerged as the leading wheat procurement district with 24,949 metric tonnes purchased, followed by Jhansi, Jalaun, Sitapur, and Mathura. On the other hand, Ghaziabad, Kannauj, Baghpat, Kasganj, and Gautam Buddh Nagar recorded the lowest procurement figures.

The Cooperative Department stated that continuous monitoring is being carried out to ensure smooth procurement operations and timely payments so that farmers receive fair value for their produce without unnecessary delays.
