The interaction focused on the transformative power of technology, digital inclusion, cybersecurity and the need for stronger global partnerships.

Technology for Inclusion

Prime Minister Modi stressed that technology must become a tool for inclusive and sustainable development. He underlined the importance of democratising technology so that no section of society is left behind by the digital transformation.

He particularly emphasised affordable and accessible technology and digital services for the Global South, along with the need to take technology to the last mile to prevent a widening digital divide.

DPI as a Global Force

The Prime Minister highlighted the potential of Digital Public Infrastructure as a transformative force for developing nations. He said India’s experience and discussions with world leaders have demonstrated the growing global relevance of DPI, which can provide a strong foundation for countries across the Global South.

Cyber Fraud Under Focus

Deepfakes Raise New Risks

The Prime Minister stressed the need for global standards and common rules for emerging technologies. Against the growing threat of deepfakes and AI-generated content, he suggested exploring mechanisms that could allow users to identify the origin of such content immediately.

Global Recognition for India

GSMA Board members acknowledged India’s rapid digital transformation, particularly the expansion of 4G and 5G, the scale of its Digital Public Infrastructure and the growth of its telecom and mobile manufacturing ecosystem.

They also appreciated India’s investment-friendly policy environment and emphasised the importance of secure, resilient and trusted digital infrastructure.

5G, 6G and Beyond

The interaction highlighted growing opportunities for international cooperation with India in 5G, 6G, Artificial Intelligence, cybersecurity, digital inclusion and satellite connectivity.

The meeting, attended by Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia and Minister of State Dr. Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, further underlined India’s growing role in shaping global conversations on next-generation connectivity, AI and interoperable technology standards.
