. The Ministry of Tourism has geared up for the implementation of Special Campaign 6.0, with a focused drive on cleanliness, disposal of pending matters and improved record management across its offices. The implementation phase of the campaign will run from October 2 to 31, 2026, with effective collection, segregation and disposal of e-waste receiving special attention this year.

Two-phase exercise

The campaign is being conducted in two phases. The preparatory phase is scheduled from September 15 to 30, followed by the implementation phase from October 2 to 31. The initiative covers ministries and departments, attached and subordinate offices, autonomous bodies and public sector undertakings, along with regional and field offices involved in delivering public services.

Targets mapped out

The Tourism Ministry held a preparatory meeting with its programme divisions, institutions and domestic offices on September 16 to identify targets and strengthen implementation planning.

The preparatory exercise included mobilising officials and field-level personnel, identifying pending references and cleanliness sites, assessing unusable material for disposal, planning efficient space management, disposing of scrap, strengthening record management and identifying measures for systematic collection and segregation of e-waste.

E-waste in focus

A major thrust of Special Campaign 6.0 will be the effective handling of electronic waste. The ministry plans to strengthen collection and segregation mechanisms so that discarded electronic material can be identified and disposed of through appropriate processes while improving the overall management of office space and records.

Building on Campaign 5.0

The ministry recorded several measurable outcomes during Special Campaign 5.0. A total of 92,749 square feet of space was freed, while scrap disposal generated ₹12.69 lakh in revenue. The campaign also resulted in the removal of 4,700 physical files and closure of 1,100 electronic files.

Across the country, 413 cleanliness drives were conducted during the previous campaign.

Building on these results, the Ministry of Tourism has reiterated its commitment to the effective implementation of Special Campaign 6.0, with continued emphasis on cleanliness, efficient record management, disposal of pending matters and systematic e-waste management across its offices.
