The Transport Department has intensified its enforcement drive against violations of road safety and transport regulations in Badaun. Acting on directions issued by the state government and the District Magistrate, Badaun, enforcement teams conducted extensive vehicle inspections at various locations across the district and took strict action against vehicles found violating prescribed norms.

Overloading Draws Strong Action

During the checking operation, eight vehicles found transporting goods beyond their permissible load capacity were seized and legal proceedings were initiated against their owners. Three additional vehicles were challaned for violations detected during the inspection.

Overloading continues to pose a serious threat to road safety, increasing the risk of accidents, damaging roads and placing excessive pressure on vehicles. The latest enforcement action sends a clear message that violations of prescribed load limits will not be ignored.

Unauthorized Ambulances Seized

The enforcement team also acted against two unauthorized and unregistered ambulances bearing Rajasthan registration numbers. Both vehicles were seized and brought to the Sub-Divisional Transport Office in Badaun for further legal action.

The action highlights the department’s focus not only on routine commercial vehicles but also on vehicles operating in sensitive public-service categories without fulfilling mandatory legal requirements.

10 Buses Challaned

The enforcement campaign also covered passenger buses. Ten buses were challaned for violations of transport regulations, while one of them was seized and deposited at the Transport Office.

According to the department, a total of ₹6 lakh was deposited into the government account as compounding fees from the vehicles seized during the enforcement operation.

Enforcement to Continue

Assistant Regional Transport Officer/Enforcement Officer Hari Om said that action against overloading, unauthorized vehicle operations and other violations of transport and traffic regulations would continue in the interest of road safety.

The department has directed vehicle owners and drivers to operate vehicles only with valid permits, fitness certificates, registration and other mandatory documents. They have also been warned against carrying passengers or goods beyond the prescribed capacity.

The Transport Department appealed to all vehicle operators to strictly follow the law and cooperate with the department and traffic police in making roads safer.
