ANYTIME NEWS NETWORK The 77th Republic Day was celebrated with dignity and patriotic fervour in RDSO on 26.01.2026. Shri Qazi Mairaj Ahmad, Additional Director General, RDSO, unfurled the National Flag and took the salute from the RPF Contingent at a function organised at the RDSO stadium.
On this occasion, he paid homage to the Constitution makers and freedom fighters and extended Republic Day greetings to all. He emphasized that along with the rights granted by the Constitution, it is the collective responsibility of every citizen to discharge their duties towards the nation. He appreciated the sustained efforts and dedication of RDSO officers and staff in contributing to the safety, efficiency and modernization of Indian Railways. In his address, the Additional Director General highlighted several important achievements, works and initiatives undertaken by RDSO during the year. These included initiatives related to speed certification and improvement in operational reliability of high-capacity electric locomotives, technological enhancements aimed at improving energy efficiency, testing and certification of modern passenger rolling stock including Vande Bharat Sleeper and Vande Metro trains. He said that RDSO, in collaboration with its partners, has developed the indigenous train protection system “Kavach”, which helps in preventing train collisions and incidents such as Signal Passed at Danger (SPAD). He mentioned that its mission-mode deployment has already begun across various zones on major routes such as Delhi–Howrah and Delhi–Mumbai, and that the upgraded version, Kavach 4.0, has also been released.
He also referred to continuous efforts in the areas of track and infrastructure monitoring, development of advanced testing facilities, induction of new technologies, and expansion of testing and evaluation capabilities in line with international standards, which have significantly contributed to improved safety and quality of railway operations. He also mentioned initiatives related to human resource development, psycho-technical testing and training, mental health support for safety category staff, as well as cleanliness, environmental sustainability and improvement of workplace facilities, reflecting RDSO’s holistic and inclusive approach towards organisational development.
In the end, the ADG extended Republic Day greetings to all officers, employees and their family members and urged them to continue working with dedication, discipline and innovation to further strengthen RDSO’s role as a premier and reliable technical organisation for Indian Railways.

On this occasion, the ADG presented commendation certificates to three employees for the ‘Vishisht Rail Seva Puraskar’. In addition, Shri Qazi Mairaj Ahmad, ADG, RDSO and Smt. Sabiha Ahmad, Vice president, Railway Women’s Welfare Association (RWWA), RDSO also presented prizes to 24 children of RDSO employees who emerged winners in the essay as well as drawing and painting competitions organised this year by the RWWA, RDSO. The event was attended in large numbers by senior officers, employees and their families, and featured cultural programmes imbued with patriotic spirit.
Smt. Saroj Singh, Secretary, RWWA, RDSO along with members of RWWA, also visited RDSO Hospital to interact with patients, wished them a Happy Republic Day, and conveyed their best wishes for a speedy recovery. She also inquired about the patients’ well-being and distributed gifts to them as part of the Republic Day celebrations.
