In a significant move to future-proof India’s workforce for the rapidly advancing era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), under MeitY, Government of India, has partnered with Intel India. The collaboration was marked by a high-powered National Leadership Dialogue aimed at preparing India for the ‘Agentic AI’ era and the launch of two dedicated AI skilling initiatives.
A Tripartite Vision for Future Readiness The dialogue, held at the India Habitat Centre, New Delhi, convened key stakeholders from the Government, foreign embassies, academia, and industry. The event provided a critical platform to deliberate on the implications of the evolving AI landscape for work, education, and skilling in India. Shri Shashi Shekhar Vempati, Chairperson, CBFC, lauded the initiative as a crucial step in democratizing Agentic AI access for the youth. Dr. Madan Mohan Tripathi, Director General, NIELIT, affirmed the institution’s commitment to equipping learners and educators for this next technological wave.
What is Agentic AI? Moving beyond predictive and generative models, Agentic AI systems possess the capability to reason, plan, and execute complex tasks autonomously under human oversight, fundamentally transforming the nature of work.
Catalyzing the AI Talent Ecosystem Addressing the government’s vision of Sovereign AI, Shri Sudeep Shrivastava, COO, IndiaAI Mission, emphasized building a strong AI talent pipeline. Ms. Shweta Khurana of Intel added, “Investing in AI skills is essential to reinforcing technological sovereignty, and this collaboration translates that vision into actionable skilling programs.”
The Two New Skilling Programs The initiative introduces two tailored programs designed to build industry-aligned skills:
Agentic AI for Everyone: Focuses on introducing participants to workflow automation, AI agents, and multi-agent systems, enhancing productivity using no-code platforms.
Engineering Agentic AI Systems: Targets aspiring engineers, offering practical exposure to designing, building, and deploying robust Agentic AI systems using code and low-code frameworks.
This collaboration solidifies India’s commitment to creating a skilled, future-ready workforce, poised to lead the next phase of AI-driven growth.
