In a major crackdown against unauthorized developments, the Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) carried out a demolition drive across nearly 15 bighas of illegally developed land in Kanpur. The operation was conducted under the supervision of senior officials and led by Special Duty Officer/Sub-Divisional Magistrate Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh.
Three separate illegal plotting sites in Katri Khyaura village and near Chiran Road were targeted. Using two excavators, authorities demolished entry gates, internal roads, drainage lines, boundary walls, electric poles, and under-construction buildings. Officials stated that the layouts were being developed without mandatory approval from the authority.

During the operation, officials cautioned citizens against purchasing plots in unauthorized colonies. According to the administration, around 60 bighas of illegal development have also been identified in Gambhirpur village, where sealing and demolition action will soon follow under the Uttar Pradesh Urban Planning and Development Act, 1973.
Authorities emphasized that illegal colonies often lack basic infrastructure such as roads, drainage, electricity, water supply, and sewer systems. Buyers are advised to verify layout approvals and obtain confirmation from KDA before investing. Officials reiterated that continuous enforcement drives will be carried out to curb unauthorized development.
