The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) paid tributes to its founder Kanshi Ram on his birth anniversary and reiterated its commitment to strengthening the movement for social transformation and economic empowerment of the Bahujan community.
BSP national president Mayawati said Kanshi Ram dedicated his entire life to carrying forward the ideology and mission of B. R. Ambedkar. According to her, Kanshi Ram worked tirelessly to revive Ambedkar’s movement across the country and build a political path for the empowerment of the Bahujan community.
On the occasion of his birth anniversary, BSP workers and supporters across Uttar Pradesh and other parts of the country paid floral tributes and took a pledge to strengthen the movement for social change and economic liberation.
Mayawati urged people from the Bahujan community to join the BSP and become committed Ambedkarite activists. She emphasized that only by securing the “master key of power” through political success can the constitutional rights granted to marginalized communities be effectively implemented on the ground.
She said that the goal of the movement is to ensure that Dalits, Adivasis, backward classes and minorities are freed from exploitation and poverty and can lead a dignified and prosperous life with access to employment, livelihood and opportunities.
Taking a swipe at rival political parties, Mayawati alleged that many parties speak about the welfare of marginalized communities but fail to deliver in practice. She specifically criticized the Samajwadi Party, claiming that its outreach toward backward and minority groups is largely driven by electoral interests.
According to her, history shows that once in power, several political parties tend to ignore the issues and icons of the Bahujan community. She asserted that the BSP remains the only genuine political movement dedicated to the empowerment and upliftment of the Bahujan society.
