UP-IMRAS Set to Transform Health Research with Unified Digital Platform

A major step toward revolutionizing health research was witnessed in Lucknow with the successful आयोजन of the UP SHRUTI (IMRAS) workshop at the Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS). The event brought together key stakeholders from government, industry, academia, and contract research organizations, emphasizing the need for integrated and collaborative research systems.

Addressing the gathering, Amit Kumar Ghosh, Additional Chief Secretary (Medical Health & Education), highlighted that UP-IMRAS will significantly enhance transparency, efficiency, and coordination in medical research. He noted that the unified digital platform will streamline processes and accelerate outcomes.

Advisor to the Chief Minister, G.N. Singh, stressed the importance of regulatory alignment and innovation, stating that such initiatives can position Uttar Pradesh as a leader in pharmaceuticals and medical research. Meanwhile, R.K. Dhiman, Director of SGPGIMS, underlined the role of academic institutions in ensuring high-quality, reliable research through standardized procedures and digital tools.

The UP-IMRAS platform was comprehensively presented by Kritika Sharma, who explained its function as a centralized digital system facilitating seamless coordination among stakeholders. A live technical demonstration showcased features such as digital proposal submissions, regulatory integration, and data management, offering participants hands-on insights.

Interactive sessions formed a key highlight of the workshop, where experts discussed 22 Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aimed at standardizing research practices, ensuring compliance, and improving overall quality.

The workshop successfully fostered dialogue and collaboration across sectors, highlighting the transformative potential of UP-IMRAS. By integrating policy support, digital infrastructure, and industry participation, the initiative is poised to simplify research processes, boost innovation, and establish Uttar Pradesh as a leading hub for health research and pharmaceuticals.
