Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the release during a virtual event held at Kartavya Bhavan-II in New Delhi.

The funds were released through the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) to support states and Union Territories in strengthening judicial infrastructure. Representatives from various High Courts and state governments participated in the meeting through video conferencing.

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Meghwal emphasized the importance of adequate and modern infrastructure for ensuring easier access to justice. He noted that the current phase of the scheme is scheduled to conclude on March 31, 2026, while the process for extending it from 2026-27 to 2030-31 is underway. The proposed expansion also includes the construction of waiting halls for litigants in court complexes to improve public convenience.

The Minister further informed that the Chief Justice of India has constituted a Judicial Infrastructure Advisory Committee under the chairmanship of Supreme Court Judge Justice Aravind Kumar to ensure a unified and modern infrastructure ecosystem for courts nationwide.

During the event, a presentation highlighted the achievements of the scheme since its inception. A total of ₹12,844.72 crore has been released so far, leading to the completion of 6,345 court buildings and 4,023 residential units, while several other projects remain under construction.
