Mayawati has strongly raised concerns over frequent power cuts and inadequate electricity supply in Uttar Pradesh during the ongoing severe summer heat. In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Bahujan Samaj Party chief said that the situation has become extremely difficult for poor families, the middle class, farmers, small traders, and millions of working people across the state.

Mayawati stated that in a heavily populated state like Uttar Pradesh, electricity shortages during extreme heat conditions are causing widespread hardship. She noted that public anger over unscheduled power cuts and low supply is increasingly visible in both rural and urban areas, with the issue receiving constant attention in the media.

The BSP leader urged the government to take immediate and effective measures to improve electricity supply and address the growing discomfort faced by citizens. She also emphasized the need for long-term planning through the establishment of new power plants and expansion of electricity generation capacity to prevent such crises in the future.

According to her statement, farmers are among the worst affected sections due to disruptions in irrigation activities, while small businesses are suffering economic losses because of irregular electricity supply. Daily life for ordinary citizens has become increasingly difficult amid rising temperatures and insufficient power availability.

Political observers believe that electricity supply is emerging as a major political issue in Uttar Pradesh ahead of upcoming elections. Opposition parties are continuously targeting the government over complaints related to power shortages, infrastructure gaps, and management failures during peak summer demand.
