Safety Alarm at DLF My Pad? Questions Raised Over Proposed Lift Installation

After Alambagh Tragedy, Fresh Concerns Over Approvals and Fire Safety Compliance

A fresh controversy is brewing at DLF My Pad in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, where questions are being raised over the installation of a proposed lift in the commercial section of the B-1 Tower. Residents and stakeholders have expressed concerns regarding safety compliance, regulatory approvals, and the decision-making process behind the project.

The issue has attracted attention because of a recent fatal lift accident in the Alambagh area of Lucknow, where two people reportedly lost their lives after a lift malfunctioned at a restaurant premises. Following that incident, authorities allegedly found deficiencies in approvals and safety compliance, leading to administrative action against the property.

Now, similar concerns are being voiced regarding the lift project at DLF My Pad. According to residents, major structural changes within a residential-commercial complex should normally be approved through a general body meeting and with the consent of stakeholders, as required under apartment management rules.

Questions are also being raised about whether the proposed installation has received all necessary permissions from agencies such as the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA), the Fire Department, and other regulatory bodies. Residents argue that any modification affecting the structure or public safety should be carried out only after obtaining mandatory clearances.

The controversy has further intensified due to allegations that different divisions within the project management may not be fully aligned on the matter. Some residents claim that while approvals may have been discussed at one level, other project officials are reportedly unaware of the details of the installation process.

It is important to note that these allegations have not yet been independently verified, and no official findings have been released by regulatory authorities. Representatives of the concerned parties have also not publicly responded to the claims at the time of writing.

However, residents insist that transparency is essential, especially when public safety is involved. They are demanding a thorough investigation by competent authorities to determine whether all legal, structural, and fire safety requirements have been met before the project moves forward.

As concerns continue to grow, attention is now focused on whether regulatory agencies will conduct an inspection and provide clarity on the legality and safety of the proposed lift installation.
