: Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University (DSMNRU) has taken a significant leap in implementing the vision of India’s National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by introducing landmark academic reforms aimed at providing students with greater flexibility, technological competence, and career readiness. The decisions were approved during the University’s 42nd Academic Council meeting, while the institution also announced the complete schedule for postgraduate admissions for the 2026-27 academic session.

Vice-Chancellor Prof. (Acharya) Sanjay Singh announced that DSMNRU has become the first state university in Uttar Pradesh to implement the Accelerated Degree Programme (ADP) and Extended Degree Programme (EDP). Under ADP, academically outstanding students with strong academic performance will be able to complete a four-year undergraduate programme in just six semesters by earning additional credits. Conversely, EDP will provide students, including those with disabilities and others requiring academic flexibility, up to two additional semesters to complete their degrees without affecting the validity of their qualifications.

The Academic Council also approved the introduction of Artificial Intelligence (AI) as a Skill Enhancement Course (SEC) across undergraduate and diploma programmes. Students will receive practical exposure to emerging AI technologies, including ChatGPT, Gemini, DeepSeek, Perplexity, Prompt Engineering, Machine Learning, Cybersecurity, and AI applications in healthcare, engineering, and rehabilitation. Additionally, the Council approved 71 multidisciplinary courses, strengthening interdisciplinary education.

For the 2026-27 postgraduate admissions, the University will publish the first merit list on July 23, followed by counselling and document verification on July 27. The second merit list will be released on July 30, while counselling for wait-listed candidates will continue until August 6.

The University administration reaffirmed its commitment to conducting a transparent, efficient, and student-friendly admission process, urging applicants to follow the official schedule and regularly visit the University’s website for updates.
