Launching a blistering attack on the BJP-led dispensations at the Centre and in Uttar Pradesh, Samajwadi Party National President Akhilesh Yadav asserted that the ruling party has completely erased the word ‘accountability’ from its political governance. Speaking to reporters outside Parliament, Yadav accused the BJP of reducing democracy to plutocracy (“Dhan-Tantra”) through systemic exploitation and suppression.
Hamirpur Student Protest: People Holding Arrogant Administration Accountable
Referencing a recent agitation in UP’s Hamirpur where school children staged a protest outside the District Magistrate’s office over unbuilt roads, the former Chief Minister remarked that if an “arrogant administration” refuses to reach the public, the public will march to them. Reaffirming socialist values, he stated, “Power exists for the welfare of society, whereas the BJP misuses society to cling to power.”
Allegations of Rampant Corruption Across Major Infrastructure Projects
Hitting out at governance in BJP-ruled states, Yadav cited major structural lapses including waterlogging at Jewar Airport, potholes on the Lucknow-Kanpur Expressway, collapsing water tanks under the Jal Jeevan Mission, and reported thefts of temple offerings in Ayodhya. He alleged that commission-seeking and budget siphoning have reached unprecedented levels without any institutional oversight.
Opposition Unity Against FCRA Bill & Parliamentary Time Limits
Reiterating the joint opposition front against the proposed FCRA legislation, Yadav alleged that the regime’s legislative agenda consistently targets minority communities. Furthermore, he criticized the government’s attempt to restrict time limits for parliamentary responses, calling it an authoritarian tactic designed to avoid genuine debate and deliver hollow statements instead of transparent answers.
