NEW DELHI: Underscoring the rapidly expanding strategic partnership between New Delhi and Tokyo, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Shri Piyush Goyal has strongly urged Japanese enterprises to deepen their investments and collaborative ventures in India. Addressing a high-level dinner hosted by the Government of Uttar Pradesh for a visiting Japanese delegation—graced by the esteemed presence of UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath—Shri Goyal painted an inspiring picture of future bilateral growth.

Uttar Pradesh: The New Hub of Opportunities: Spotlighting Uttar Pradesh’s phenomenal economic ascent, Shri Goyal noted that under Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state is aggressively marching toward its ambitious goal of becoming a 1-trillion-dollar economy. Backed by over 90 million MSMEs, world-class infrastructure like the upcoming Jewar International Airport, and dedicated industrial ecosystems, UP serves as the ultimate bridge connecting cutting-edge Japanese technology with India’s vibrant, youthful workforce.

Soaring Economic Milestones: Bilateral trade between the two nations has soared to an impressive $27.5 billion, with Japan firmly established as India’s 5th largest source of Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). Iconic Japanese giants like Suzuki, Toyota, Honda, Sony, and Hitachi are already thriving across India. To further amplify this momentum, Shri Goyal announced an upcoming official visit to Japan from August 24 to 27, 2026, aimed at cementing high-level industry cooperation and unlocking the next decade of shared prosperity.
