Under the leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Uttar Pradesh is rapidly emerging as one of India’s leading centers for Artificial Intelligence and technology-driven governance. Strengthening this vision, the “AI Transformation Conclave 2026” held in Lucknow brought together more than 50 IAS officers, senior bureaucrats, and policy experts from across the country to discuss the future of digital governance and innovation.
A high-level capacity-building workshop titled “The AI-Powered Public Administrator: Competencies for a New Era of Governance” was organized during the conclave. The session was led by Dr. Subi Chaturvedi, Founder of NIHIT and Sherpa of Working Group-7 of the India-US CEO Forum. She stated that Lucknow is evolving beyond its traditional cultural identity into a major innovation and AI ecosystem hub.
Dr. Chaturvedi highlighted that deep-tech operations by companies like InMobi are helping Uttar Pradesh build a strong ecosystem of research, entrepreneurship, digital infrastructure, and governance innovation. Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “MANAV” framework, she emphasized the importance of ethical, accountable, accessible, and human-centric AI development.
The conclave also focused on Uttar Pradesh’s ambitious AI policy initiatives. Recently, the state approved India’s first AI City in Lucknow’s Vrindavan Yojana with an investment of ₹368 crore, while a separate allocation of ₹225 crore has been made for the UP AI Mission.
Manoj Kumar Singh, CEO of the State Transformation Commission, said Uttar Pradesh is moving towards becoming a national model in AI-driven governance and public administration. Principal Secretary of IT and Electronics Alok Kumar added that the government is fully committed to developing infrastructure for emerging technologies such as AI, quantum computing, and deep-tech innovation.
The workshop also explored AI applications in cybersecurity, MSMEs, startups, citizen-centric services, and digital governance, reinforcing Uttar Pradesh’s growing role in India’s technology future.
