Arya Samaj Launches Campaign Against Social Evils and Lavish Wedding Culture

 In an era marked by rising social pressures, extravagant celebrations, and increasing financial burdens on families, the Arya Pratinidhi Sabha Uttar Pradesh has called for a return to simplicity, social responsibility, and Vedic values. A major strategy meeting held in Lucknow brought together representatives from various districts across Uttar Pradesh to discuss ways of addressing social evils and promoting meaningful reform.

The meeting was conducted under the leadership of senior office-bearers, including President Yogesh Kumar Arya, Minister Dev Sharan Arya, Treasurer Akhilesh Kumar, and Acharya Swadesh. Participants expressed concern over the growing influence of social extravagance, unnecessary rituals, and the commercialization of marriage ceremonies.

Speakers emphasized that Arya Samaj has historically promoted simple, dignified, and affordable marriages based on Vedic traditions. However, they noted that modern wedding celebrations have increasingly become expensive social events, placing enormous financial pressure on families, particularly those with daughters.

Leaders argued that marriage should be viewed as a sacred social institution rather than a display of wealth or status. To counter this trend, the organization plans to launch awareness campaigns aimed at encouraging simple weddings and discouraging wasteful spending.

The gathering also discussed issues related to caste divisions, social discrimination, and misconceptions surrounding the traditional Varna system. Participants stressed the need to promote equality, social harmony, and human dignity through education and constructive dialogue.

A major focus of the meeting was spreading awareness about the principles of Sanatan Dharma and Vedic philosophy among younger generations. Representatives agreed that outreach programs, seminars, and community interactions would be organized across the state to strengthen social awareness and cultural understanding.

According to the organizers, meaningful social reform can only be achieved when communities collectively reject harmful practices and embrace values such as simplicity, education, mutual respect, and ethical living.

The Arya Pratinidhi Sabha expressed confidence that its renewed social outreach efforts would help address several long-standing challenges while promoting a more balanced and value-driven society. The organization believes that preserving cultural roots while adapting to modern realities is essential for building a stronger and more inclusive future.
