Citizens across India have been urged to actively participate in the Census 2027 process, a crucial national exercise that forms the backbone of policy planning and development. The data collected through the census plays a key role in shaping initiatives related to education, healthcare, housing, employment, and infrastructure.

In a major step toward digitization, the government has introduced a self-enumeration facility, allowing residents to submit their details online between May 7 and May 21, 2026. Through the official portal, users can register their household, verify their identity via OTP, mark their residence on a digital map, and fill out the census questionnaire. Upon submission, a unique Self Enumeration (SE) ID is generated.

For those unable to complete the process online, enumerators will visit households between May 22 and June 20, 2026, to collect data directly. Citizens are encouraged to provide accurate and complete information to ensure fair allocation of resources and inclusive development.

Authorities have also clarified that no sensitive information such as bank details, Aadhaar numbers, or financial data will be requested during the census. All collected information will remain strictly confidential and secure.

Census participation is not just a procedural requirement but a civic responsibility. Greater public involvement will help ensure that no individual or community is left out of the development framework.
