Lucknow: Amid rising speculation and public concern over the availability of petrol, diesel and LPG in Uttar Pradesh, state-level coordinators of the oil industry issued an official clarification claiming that fuel supply across the state remains “completely normal and uninterrupted.”

Public sector Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs) including Indian Oil Corporation, Bharat Petroleum and Hindustan Petroleum stated that adequate stocks of petroleum products are available and the supply chain is functioning smoothly without disruption.

According to the press release, Uttar Pradesh currently has 13,168 fuel retail outlets and 28 supply depots operating normally. The companies claimed that average daily supply stands at 20 TKL of petrol and 33 TKL of diesel, while combined fuel reserves are sufficient to meet nearly 14 days of consumer demand.

The statement also highlighted LPG distribution, saying around 4.88 crore consumers are being served through 4,143 distributors and 36 bottling plants. Nearly 8 lakh LPG refills are reportedly being delivered daily across the state.

However, the advisory asking citizens “not to panic and avoid excessive buying” has itself triggered questions among observers and consumer groups. Critics argue that such appeals are usually issued only when authorities sense market anxiety or fear of supply disruptions.

OMCs have urged the public to rely solely on official communication regarding fuel availability and avoid rumours circulating through unofficial channels. The companies also promoted digital LPG booking systems and Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) verification for safer and transparent delivery mechanisms.
