A dedicated knowledge session organised by the Food Processing Department during Uttar Pradesh International Trade Show (UPITS)-2026 highlighted government incentives, investment opportunities and the potential to connect processed food products with domestic and global markets.

The session at India Expo Centre & Mart, Greater Noida, was attended by Deputy Chief Minister and Food Processing Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, senior officials, entrepreneurs, District Resource Persons and other stakeholders.

Policy Push

The session focused on the PM Formalisation of Micro Food Processing Enterprises (PMFME) Scheme and the Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Industry Policy-2023, covering support for setting up, upgrading, modernising and expanding micro and small food processing enterprises.

According to the figures presented during the programme, around 28,000 food processing units have been established or upgraded in Uttar Pradesh under PMFME, involving investment of about ₹2,200 crore and generating nearly 1.50 lakh employment opportunities. Investment Incentives

Under the Uttar Pradesh Food Processing Industry Policy-2023, eligible new units can receive capital subsidy of up to 35% of expenditure on plant, machinery and technical civil work, subject to applicable limits.

The policy is aimed at encouraging investment, expanding processing capacity and supporting adoption of modern technology.

Global Market Link

A total of 16 Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) were signed under the Food Processing Department during UPITS-2026. Their combined value was stated at approximately US$50,000. The agreements are intended to facilitate international market linkages, promote exports and create new avenues for business cooperation.

Technical sessions covered food processing, value addition, entrepreneurship, modern processing technologies and market opportunities. Officials and experts including B.L. Meena and Raj Kamal Yadav made presentations on policy provisions, incentives and sectoral opportunities.

The initiative places greater emphasis on processing agricultural and horticultural produce, adding value to local resources and creating stronger domestic and international market linkages.
