Young athletes compete in cricket, chess, kho-kho and tug of war
Leaders encourage youth to embrace sportsmanship and fitness

A grand Youth Sports Festival was inaugurated at the iconic KD Singh Babu Stadium with the aim of promoting sportsmanship and encouraging youth participation in athletics. The event was organized jointly by Utthishth Seva Sansthanam, Prof Sharda Prasad Tiwari Memorial Trust, SS Hospital, MY Bharat and Kavyom Foundation.
The ceremony was attended by several distinguished guests including Mukesh Sharma as the chief guest. Other prominent attendees included Durgesh Tripathi, Shyam Tripathi, Prof Manjula Upadhyay, Dr Himanshu Singh, Seema Pandey, Dr Ramesh Tripathi, Yogesh Tiwari, Vikas Singh and Dr Atul Sinha among others.
The festival began with a cricket match, followed by competitions in tug of war, chess and kho-kho. Young athletes displayed great enthusiasm and competitive spirit throughout the events.
In the kho-kho competition, Gandhi Club secured the first position while BKT College finished as the runner-up. In the tug of war competition, the boys’ category was won by Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial College of Engineering and Management, with Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University finishing second. In the women’s category, Shri Ram Swaroop Memorial University emerged victorious while Shivaji NPG College secured the runner-up position.
Eight teams participated in the competition, with four teams advancing to the semifinals scheduled for the following day. Volleyball and badminton matches will also be held in the next phase of the festival.
The event was hosted by Prashant Prakhar, while Prof. Manjula Upadhyay delivered the vote of thanks. The first session concluded with the national anthem.
