MCF Raebareli Rolls Out First Vande Bharat Trainset, Marks Entry into Elite Manufacturing League

In a major boost to India’s railway modernization drive, the Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli has successfully rolled out its first Vande Bharat trainset on May 2, 2026. With this achievement, MCF joins the elite group of manufacturing units producing India’s flagship semi-high-speed trains.
The newly unveiled 16-car chair car rake is equipped with a state-of-the-art Siemens propulsion system, enhancing speed, efficiency, and operational performance. The Vande Bharat initiative, which began in 2018 with just two trainsets, is now rapidly approaching the milestone of its 100th trainset, symbolizing India’s progress in advanced rolling stock development.
Before entering passenger service, the train will undergo rigorous oscillation trials and field testing to validate ride comfort, safety standards, and dynamic performance. The MCF-built trainset retains the core values of the Vande Bharat brand—speed, efficiency, and passenger comfort—while integrating several engineering advancements to improve reliability and safety.
Passenger-centric features include ergonomic seating, jerk-free travel, sealed gangways, and automatic plug doors, ensuring a quiet and smooth journey. On the safety front, the train is equipped with the indigenous ‘Kavach’ Automatic Train Protection system, advanced fire detection with aerosol suppression, and flood protection for critical under-slung equipment.
The use of vacuum infusion technology ensures superior interior quality and durability. Additionally, the train is fully Divyang-friendly, featuring ramps, dedicated spaces, and accessibility-focused facilities.
This rollout from MCF Raebareli represents a significant step in India’s journey toward world-class, safe, and high-speed rail transport, reinforcing Indian Railways’ commitment to innovation, inclusivity, and self-reliance.
