DoT Signs MoU with TSDSI to Accelerate India’s 6G Vision

The Department of Telecommunications (DoT), Ministry of Communications, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Telecommunications Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) to strengthen India’s leadership in global telecom standardisation and accelerate the vision of the Bharat 6G Mission. The agreement was signed during the 9th TSDSI Technical Deep Dive (TTDD) 2026 in the presence of Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia.

Driving Indigenous Innovation

Executed under the Technology Development and Investment Promotion (TDIP) scheme, the MoU aims to enhance India’s participation in international standards development organisations, promote indigenous technologies, and facilitate greater contributions from Indian innovators to global telecom standards.

Opportunity for Startups and MSMEs

The partnership is expected to create new opportunities for Indian startups, MSMEs, academia, and research institutions by enabling their active participation in international standardisation activities, thereby strengthening India’s innovation ecosystem.

Scindia: India is Shaping Future Technologies

Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Jyotiraditya M. Scindia said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India is not only emerging as a global technology hub but also as a laboratory where future communication technologies are being developed and tested. He remarked that telecommunications have expanded human potential more than any other innovation in history.

Towards a Global Digital Future

The government believes the collaboration will strengthen India’s position in next-generation telecom technologies, promote self-reliance, and enhance the country’s influence in shaping future global communication standards. The initiative is also expected to reinforce India’s leadership in the evolving 6G ecosystem.
