A significant thought seminar focusing on the continuous promotion, advancement, and widespread usage of the Hindi language was held in Lucknow today. Organized by ‘Manjushri, Lucknow’, the seminar was part of the ‘Hindi Pakhwada’ celebrations and received special support from the Information and Public Relations Department, Uttar Pradesh.
The eminent speakers at the event unanimously asserted that systematic and planned efforts are crucial to taking Hindi to every household and effectively connecting the younger generation with their mother tongue.
Coexistence of Languages and Hindi’s Growing Reach
Presiding over the seminar, noted litterateur Sanjeev Jaiswal ‘Sanjay’ stated that no language is inferior, and every language holds importance in its respective domain. He expressed satisfaction that Hindi has emerged as a widely spoken and understood language across the country. Mr. ‘Sanjay’ remarked, “Even in non-Hindi speaking regions, particularly from a tourism perspective, the trend among locals to understand and speak Hindi has increased significantly, which is a positive outcome of our continuous promotional efforts.”
Government Initiatives and Youth Engagement
In-charge Editor Dinesh Kumar Gupta provided insights into various programs and schemes implemented by different governments for the promotion of Hindi. He noted that sustained efforts on occasions like ‘Hindi Divas’ have led to increased awareness and a surge in the usage of the language.
Director of Manjushri, Shailesh Srivastava, drew attention to the declining use of Hindi in the growing trend of online education among youth. He stressed the need for a systematic approach to engage ‘Gen Z’ with Hindi by connecting with them in their preferred medium and language.
Speakers Alka Saxena and Siyaram Pandey ‘Shant’ opined that the positive results of continuous promotion are now visible on the ground, and the attraction towards Hindi is growing. Young speaker Priyanka Chaturvedi also expressed concern over the increasing inclination towards English among the youth and highlighted the crucial role of families in addressing this shift.
Poetic Moderation and Vote of Thanks
The seminar was moderated effectively by Ajay Mishra ‘Ajay Sri’, who emphasized the widespread propagation of Hindi and the need to declare it the National Language. He also enthralled the audience with a captivating poetry recitation.
The program commenced with a soulful Saraswati Vandana by Shruti Jaiswal. On this occasion, Secretary Vivek Kumar शुक्ला delivered the welcome address, and Vice-President Pramod Agnihotri proposed the vote of thanks. A large number of literature enthusiasts, linguists, and attendees were present at the event.
