The cultural and literary capital, Lucknow, was enveloped in grief as the city’s elite gathered to pay a poignant tribute to one of the country’s most celebrated and iconic poets, Bashir Badr. Under the aegis of Ittehad-E-Millat, a solemn condolence meeting was organized at the prestigious U.P. Press Club. The gathering transcended a conventional memorial; it became a profound celebration of the era of love, humanity, and secular fabric that Bashir Badr single-handedly kept alive through his timeless couplets. The event was seamlessly conducted by P.K. Tiwari and organized by Siraj Mehdi, Insram Ali, and Sarvesh Asthana.
The memorial witnessed an overwhelming turnout of renowned poets, senior politicians across party lines, veteran journalists, social activists, and literary scholars. Offering his ‘Khiraj-e-Aqeedaat’ (tribute), Siraj Mehdi stated, “Bashir Badr Sahab was the majestic voice of Urdu literature whose couplets resonated with the heartbeat of the masses. His departure marks the end of a golden era.” Insram Ali added that Badr’s poetry will serve as a guiding light for future generations, praying for his eternal peace in Jannat-ul-Firdaus.

Renowned literary figure Sarvesh Asthana described Bashir Badr as a magician of words who scaled new heights of human emotions.
Emotional Verses: The atmosphere turned deeply emotional as contemporary poets took to the podium to recite some of Bashir Badr’s most legendary couplets, reflecting life’s pain, love, and the warmth of relationships.
Final Prayers: To honor the departed soul, the entire house stood up and observed a strict two-minute silence, praying for his soul’s transcendental peace.
A Legacy Beyond Borders: Speakers unanimously emphasized that Bashir Badr’s work broke all barriers of language, religion, and geography. While the physical pen has stopped, his written words remain permanently etched into the cultural conscience of the nation.
