Voices of Justice Rise as Lawyers Celebrate Ambedkar’s Legacy

: A grand ceremony of the ‘Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar Law Protector Award’ was आयोजित at the Press Club Lucknow under the joint aegis of Milli Foundation and Uttar Pradesh Artists Association. The event was convened by Advocate Mukesh Sonkar and chaired by retired District and Sessions Judge Arun Kumar Gupta.
The कार्यक्रम began with a heartfelt tribute to B. R. Ambedkar by Milli Foundation President Salahuddin (Shibu) and Chairman Wamik Khan.
Distinguished guests included former IAS officers Anees Ansari and Harish Chandra, former government advocate Rishad Murtaza, social activist and Ramon Magsaysay Award winner Sandeep Pandey, and several eminent personalities from legal and administrative fields.
Addressing the gathering, Salahuddin emphasized that Dr. Ambedkar was not just the architect of the Constitution but a true crusader of social justice. He highlighted how Ambedkar used law as a powerful instrument to fight for the rights of marginalized communities, workers, and women, often representing them free of cost.
Convener Mukesh Sonkar stated that Ambedkar once declined a judicial post to continue serving society through advocacy, proving that his mission extended far beyond personal success.
Former IAS officer Anees Ansari underlined the crucial role of lawyers in ensuring justice, stating that any movement against injustice gains strength when backed by legal expertise.
Sarvesh Sonkar noted that Ambedkar’s ideals of equality, liberty, and fraternity are deeply embedded in India’s Constitution and continue to guide society.
Several advocates including Aamir Naqvi, Suresh Pandey, Mohammad Umar, Gurmeet Singh Soni, and others were honored with the prestigious award for their contributions to delivering justice through legal means.
