The propaganda of a booming industrial climate in Uttar Pradesh has been brutally busted by the state’s own entrepreneurs. In a desperate bid to save their collapsing livelihoods, the General Secretary of Sarojini Nagar Industrial Area Manufacturers Association (SIMA), Ritesh Srivastava, personally knocked on the doors of Defence Minister Rajnath Singh today, exposing the multi-layered systematic torture being faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) in Lucknow.
The Fatal Corruption of Portals & Biased Procurements The list of grievances submitted to the Minister reads like an institutional horror story. Local entrepreneurs openly alleged that UP’s MSME and Ayush units are being systematically sidelined and boycotted in state government procurements, with multi-million rupee contracts being secretly rerouted to outsiders. Furthermore, the heavily promoted ‘Nivesh Mitra’ portal has turned into a bureaucratic nightmare, where applications for operations are ruthlessly rejected by corrupt officials without giving even a single window to clear minor objections.
Financial Starvation & Structural Failure The situation is completely grim as commercial banks are squeezing the life out of these small factories with brutal NPA classifications and a total denial of credit lines. On top of that, corrupt departments are forcing individual micro-units to build separate, expensive fire-tanks rather than setting up a common safety infrastructure, pushing small owners into heavy debt. While vacant plots allocated by UPSIDA are being hoarded by land mafias instead of real manufacturers, the promises made by the Defence Minister sound like mere political lip-service. If these structural failures and regulatory terrorism are not contained immediately, Lucknow’s economic backbone will permanently fracture.
