Big Relief for Transport Staff: DA Hiked to 55% from Jan 2026

In a significant move impacting thousands of employees, Uttar Pradesh Transport Minister Dayashankar Singh announced a 5% increase in Dearness Allowance (DA) for regular employees of the Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation. With this revision, DA now stands at 55% of the basic pay under the 7th Pay Commission, effective from January 1, 2026.
The decision comes as a partial relief amid rising inflation, offering employees an increase in their monthly earnings. However, the announcement carries a crucial condition—no arrears will be paid for the past period. This means employees will benefit from the hike going forward, but will not receive any backdated payments.
According to the minister, the financial burden arising from this increase will be borne entirely by the corporation through its own resources, without additional support from the state government. This highlights a focus on maintaining financial discipline within the organization while still extending some benefits to employees.
While the DA hike is expected to ease financial pressure to some extent, the absence of arrears may lead to mixed reactions among staff.
