Akhilesh Yadav has strongly criticized the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party over recent economic appeals and restrictions announced after the elections. The Samajwadi Party chief said that the BJP suddenly remembered “crisis” only after the completion of elections, while according to him, the real crisis facing the country is the BJP government itself.

Akhilesh Yadav questioned the government’s repeated appeals for restrictions and economic discipline, saying that such measures expose the weakness of the government’s economic policies. Referring to the promise of building a “five trillion-dollar economy,” he remarked that the government now appears more focused on asking citizens to cut expenses rather than boosting economic growth.

He alleged that the strengthening US dollar and weakening Indian rupee reflect growing economic instability. According to him, inflation, unemployment and uncertainty in markets are affecting every section of society, including farmers, labourers, youth, salaried employees and business owners.

Commenting on appeals discouraging gold purchases, Yadav said that ordinary citizens are already struggling with rising prices and shrinking incomes. He accused influential sections linked with corruption of converting black money into gold while common people remain financially burdened.

The Samajwadi Party leader also raised questions over the large-scale expenditure witnessed during election campaigns, including chartered flights, luxury hotel stays and promotional activities. He argued that if conservation of resources was genuinely important, political parties should have adopted digital campaigning and cost-cutting measures during elections as well.

Akhilesh Yadav further alleged that the BJP government has failed both in domestic governance and foreign policy management. He claimed that moving away from India’s traditional non-aligned diplomatic approach has negatively impacted the economy and increased pressure on ordinary citizens.

He said public anger over inflation, unemployment and economic hardship is steadily increasing and may influence future political developments in the country. According to Yadav, citizens will respond democratically to the economic challenges they are facing today.
