Kanpur Development Authority carried out a major anti-encroachment and demolition drive against illegal constructions in Zone-1B on Sunday. Acting under the directions of Vice Chairman Ankur Kaushik and Secretary Abhay Kumar Pandey, the enforcement operation was led by Special Officer and Deputy District Magistrate Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh. Nearly 8.5 bighas of unauthorized development were demolished during the action.

According to officials, illegal commercial construction being carried out by Hari Mohan Gupta and others at Arazi No. 930 and nearby land parcels in Bairi Akbarpur Bangar was demolished. The structures, reportedly intended for use as a guest house and hotel, were being constructed without approval of building maps or permission from the development authority. Approximately 3 bighas of illegal construction were removed during the drive.

In another major action, unauthorized plotting spread across nearly 5.5 bighas at Arazi Nos. 1397, 1398, 1399, 1390 and 1388 in the Katri area was demolished. Officials stated that plotting work was being carried out without approved layout permission from the authority, violating urban development regulations.

The demolition operation was conducted in the presence of Junior Engineer Himanshu Barnwal, supervisors Ram Autar, Manoj Kumar, Raj Kumar and Lal Singh along with adequate police force from the concerned police station to maintain law and order.

Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh informed that another 9.5 bighas of illegal plotting has also been identified for further action. Demolition and sealing operations in those areas are scheduled for May 15, 2026, subject to the availability of sufficient police force.

The authority has appealed to citizens to verify layout approvals from KDA before purchasing land in plotted developments. Residents were also advised to obtain proper map approvals before starting construction activities to avoid future financial and legal complications. Officials added that such enforcement drives against unauthorized activities will continue as part of an ongoing campaign.
