The 8th CII Uttar Pradesh Health Summit 2026 brought policymakers, healthcare experts, industry leaders, medical professionals, technology specialists and other stakeholders together in Lucknow to deliberate on the future of healthcare delivery in Uttar Pradesh and across India.
Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak, who attended the summit as Chief Guest, stressed that healthcare must not be viewed merely as a growing sector but as a fundamental public responsibility linked to human service.
Call for a Model Hospital
Pathak called for the development of a model hospital in Uttar Pradesh that could establish benchmarks in quality healthcare, affordable treatment, modern technology and patient-centric services.
He said the real measure of healthcare progress should not simply be the number of hospitals or beds created, but whether quality medical services are reaching every citizen irrespective of geographical location or economic status.
Youth Health Under Spotlight
The Deputy Chief Minister also highlighted the growing health challenges among children and young people. Changing lifestyles, unhealthy eating habits, late-night routines, physical inactivity and increasing academic and social pressures, he said, are creating long-term health concerns that require greater attention.
Healthcare Must Reach Rural UP
Amit Kumar Ghosh, IAS, Additional Chief Secretary, Medical, Health and Family Welfare Department, emphasised that healthcare access cannot be measured merely by infrastructure. Rural and underserved populations must receive timely diagnostics, appropriate treatment and effective referral services.
He called for stronger coordination between primary health centres, district hospitals, medical colleges and specialised institutions, along with greater emphasis on preventive healthcare, diagnostics and digital health.
AI and Medical Technology
Dr. G.N. Singh, Adviser to the Chief Minister and former DCGI, highlighted Uttar Pradesh’s potential to emerge as a major hub for healthcare, pharmaceuticals, medical technology and biotechnology.
He stressed that infrastructure alone would not be sufficient. Research, clinical capabilities, manufacturing, regulation and technology must work together. AI, digital health and advanced diagnostics, he said, can play a crucial role in expanding access and improving healthcare outcomes.
Industry-Government Partnership
CII representatives underlined the need for sustained government-industry dialogue, knowledge sharing, innovation and public-private partnerships. Strengthening emergency care, critical care, diagnostics and clinical capabilities was identified as an important priority.
The summit reinforced a clear message: Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare transformation will require not only more infrastructure, but better quality, stronger technology, affordability and patient-centred delivery.
