: The Uttar Pradesh Food Safety and Drug Administration has launched a large-scale enforcement drive against milk and dairy product adulteration across the state. Acting on the directions of the Food Safety Commissioner, 27 inter-district teams conducted surprise inspections at dairy units, milk chilling centres, collection centres, and warehouses.
Large Seizures During Raids
Officials inspected 42 dairy establishments and collected 116 food samples for laboratory analysis. Around 34 quintals of dairy products, valued at approximately ₹28.5 lakh, were seized, while nearly 9 quintals of food found unfit for human consumption were destroyed.
FIRs in Four Districts
Serious violations led to the registration of four FIRs in Amroha, Aligarh, Badaun, and Mathura. Cases involved illegal production without licences, use of prohibited adulterants, and manufacturing under unhygienic conditions.
Fake Dairy Products Detected
Authorities reported the seizure of large quantities of whey powder and scrap powder in Amroha, fake paneer in Aligarh, and adulterated milk and ghee in Badaun. Multiple dairy units in Mathura also came under investigation for suspected adulteration.
Focus on Consumer Safety
The Food Safety Department stated that the campaign is specifically aimed at organised adulteration networks and not at harassing small retailers or street vendors. Officials reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring safe, hygienic, and quality food products for consumers through continued enforcement drives across Uttar Pradesh.
