Zero Tolerance For Black Marketing; Strict e-KYC Mandated To Stop LPG Theft

Crackdown On Fuel Mafia: Minister Blasts Petroleum Companies

By Pooja Shrivastava, Any Time News Network, Lucknow (June 1, 2026): In a scathing assessment of the state’s fuel and energy distribution network, Food and Civil Supplies Minister Manoj Kumar Pandey has launched a massive offensive against corrupt petroleum dealers, hoarding syndicates, and complicit corporate officials. Chairing a high-level review meeting at Bapu Bhawan, the Minister issued a final ultimatum, declaring that those strangling consumer rights under the guise of supply chain gaps will face relentless state action.

The government’s aggressive stance comes in the wake of rampant smuggling, artificial fuel shortages, and illegal hoarding reported across districts bordering Nepal and Bihar. Greedy distributors have been diverting essential petroleum products to cross-border black markets for higher profit margins, leaving genuine local consumers high and dry. Terming this as an absolute betrayal of public trust, the Minister ordered immediate, aggressive field inspections and criminal prosecution against errant petrol pump owners and District Supply Officers who fail to monitor them.

Plugging Loopholes: Rigorous Checks on Gas Agencies The domestic LPG cylinder distribution system has also come under heavy fire for systemic rot, leakages, and illegal commercial usage. To completely dismantle the underground cylinder mafia, the government has banned gas refills for any consumer who has not completed their e-KYC. Furthermore, no refilling will be permitted without strict verification and official Delivery Authentication Code (DAC) approval.

Expressing deep dissatisfaction with gas agencies failing to provide 100% home delivery, the Minister warned that immediate cancellation of licenses awaits those torturing common citizens. Additionally, gas companies were reprimanded for their sluggish pace in expanding the PNG network. The message from the top is loud and clear: the era of hoarding, short-selling, and institutional negligence in Uttar Pradesh is officially over.
