SP Chief Targets Corruption in Jal Jeevan Mission; Says Flawed Governance Leading to Infrastructure Collapses

Launching a scathing and direct offensive against the ruling dispensation over the ongoing severe water scarcity in the Bundelkhand region, Samajwadi Party National President and former Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav stated that the ground realities in Chitrakoot have fully exposed the ruling party’s administrative tall claims. Yadav asserted that after witnessing the miserable plight of the elderly, women, and children yearning for basic drinking water, the BJP’s slogan of comprehensive development has effectively “gone underground.” Mocking the long-term vision of the government, the SP chief remarked that the distressed public is openly demanding immediate water relief today rather than chasing the distant illusion of a ‘Developed India by 2047’.
Systemic Commission Rackets Suffocating the ‘Har Ghar Jal’ Mission
Exposing the structural loopholes in rural development schemes, Akhilesh Yadav raised serious allegations of institutionalized graft:
Slogans Confined to Walls: Yadav claimed that as long as this highly corrupt administration remains in power, the mega water tanks erected under the ‘Jal Jeevan Mission’ will continue to structurally collapse, and the flagship slogan of ‘Har Ghar Jal’ will remain static only on painted walls.
Plunder of Public Exchequers: Terming the current government explicitly anti-development, the former Chief Minister alleged that every single sector has witnessed a massive plunder of budgetary resources. He added that public funds are systematically distributed among party insiders as commissions, which directly explains why water towers are imploding, newly built bridges are washing away, and state highways are cracking up prematurely.
Failure of River Cleansing Schemes: SP Cites the Goemti Riverfront Blueprint
Turning his focus toward environmental mismanagement, the Leader of the Opposition noted that the administration has heavily deceived citizens under the pretext of holy river rejuvenation projects.
The Riverfront Benchmark: Yadav pointed out that crucial rivers across UP have dried up and turned into open sewage drains, with raw urban affluent being dumped into them directly while the designated cleanup budgets have been completely siphoned off. “They failed to clean Mother Ganga, and the condition of the Yamuna is absolutely deplorable,” he stated. Highlighting his own tenure’s legacy, Yadav noted that the world-class Gomti Riverfront in Lucknow remains a benchmark for how rivers should be scientifically preserved, accusing the current regime of intentionally ruining established public assets. He concluded his address with a sharp rhyming slogan: “Let the BJP go so that water can flow; every thirsty throat says no to BJP today.”
