A Holi Milan celebration organized by the Maheshwari community in Lucknow’s Nirala Nagar on Friday brought together families and members in a festive atmosphere. However, despite discussions about social reform and youth participation, observers noted a lack of concrete initiatives to address the issues raised during the event.

The program was held at Madhav Sabhagar and began with the ceremonial lighting of a lamp before the idols of Lord Mahesh and Goddess Parvati. The event opened with Mahesh Vandana, followed by Vande Mataram and the National Anthem. Media in-charge Vinod Maheshwari welcomed the attendees by applying gulal as part of the traditional Holi greeting.

Former IPS officer A.P. Maheshwari attended the event as a special guest and spoke about the “Mission IAS 100” initiative, encouraging young members of the community to pursue civil services and take leadership roles in society. He also raised concerns about certain social practices within the community and emphasized the need for reform.

However, despite these remarks, the event did not outline any clear roadmap or structured initiatives aimed at addressing the social issues highlighted during the discussions. This raised questions among observers about whether such conversations remain largely symbolic rather than leading to tangible change.

The celebration also featured cultural performances, including a musical presentation by the Dhanak Swadeshi Band under the direction of Sheelu Srivastava. Members of the Maheshwari community executive committee welcomed guests with sandalwood tilak and festive greetings.

Several prominent members attended the event, including Vinod Maheshwari, Radheshyam Jaju, Sanjay Kabra, Govind Bhuradia, Vinamra Maheshwari, Nitin Maheshwari, Ashish Maheshwari, Nikhil Baldua, Pankaj Toshniwal, Vijay Prakash Asawa, Nirbhay Maheshwari, Gaurav Baldua and Hanuman Loya.

Members of the women’s wing including Kiran, Manisha, Madhu, Asha, Abha, Meena and Savita were also present, while the newly elected women’s committee was formally welcomed during the program.

The event concluded with traditional Phoolon Ki Holi, accompanied by drums and music, followed by a community dinner. While the gathering showcased community bonding and festive enthusiasm, the absence of concrete steps toward addressing internal social challenges remained a notable takeaway.
