Lucknow: Preparations for the 119th Urs Mubarak of Hazrat Khwaja Mohammad Nabi Raza Shah, popularly known as Dada Miyan, formally began with the traditional Parcham Kushai (flag hoisting) ceremony at Dargah Dada Miyan, Khanqah Shah-e-Raza, Mall Avenue, Lucknow.
The Urs will be observed from September 4 to 8, 2026, corresponding to 21–25 Rabi-ul-Awwal. As part of the traditional ceremony, Sufi Noor Mohammad Fasahati arrived from Kanpur with his disciples carrying the ceremonial flag. The flag was hoisted by Hazrat Khwaja Mohammad Sabahat Hasan Shah, Sajjadanasheen and Mutawalli of Dargah Dada Miyan.
A Mehfil-e-Sama was organised before the flag-hoisting ceremony, where renowned Qawwals presented Sufi devotional compositions. Imam of Masjid Shah-e-Raza, Qari Anwar, explained the historical and spiritual significance of Parcham Kushai.
Hazrat Mohammad Sabahat Hasan Shah extended greetings on the occasion of Rabi-ul-Awwal and appealed to the administration, government authorities and members of the media to extend their cooperation for the successful conduct of all Urs programmes.
He said that the Urs of Dada Miyan represents the rich Sufi tradition, communal harmony, brotherhood and national unity.
Farhat Miyan, Secretary of the Urs and Mela Committee, said that with the Parcham Kushai ceremony, preparations for the 119th Urs have officially commenced. He added that the centuries-old tradition continues to serve as a symbolic announcement of the forthcoming Urs and remains an important part of Sufi cultural heritage.
