Better Infrastructure, Digital Support & Outreach to Boost Enrollment and Opportunities

In a significant push toward inclusive education, Dr. Shakuntala Misra National Rehabilitation University in Lucknow is strengthening its infrastructure and academic ecosystem to support students with disabilities. The university is actively enhancing facilities such as ramps, elevators, Braille signage, accessible restrooms, assistive devices, and trained support staff to create a barrier-free learning environment.
Vice-Chancellor Acharya Sanjay Singh, while addressing a key meeting in Azamgarh, emphasized that the institution’s vision goes beyond increasing enrollment. He highlighted the goal of ensuring holistic academic, social, and professional development for Divyang students through a supportive and inclusive campus environment.
The discussion also underscored the role of the state government in promoting quality education, skill development, and rehabilitation for persons with disabilities. Various schemes and policy initiatives are being effectively implemented to integrate Divyang students into mainstream education.
Officials suggested the creation of a coordinated district-level framework involving departments of education, health, social justice, and skill development. Such collaboration would ensure continuous support for students—from education to employment.
Digital inclusion emerged as another key focus area. The university is working toward expanding online counseling services, accessible e-learning content, and user-friendly information systems to reach a wider audience. Controller of Examinations Dr. Amit Kumar Rai noted that strengthened counseling and guidance mechanisms are being implemented to ensure that no eligible student is left behind due to lack of awareness or resources.
The meeting saw participation from government officials, academic leaders, and representatives from colleges, polytechnics, ITIs, and special education institutes. Discussions centered on increasing enrollment, improving accessibility, and enhancing awareness at the grassroots level.
Overall, the university’s efforts mark a progressive step toward building an inclusive education system, ensuring equal opportunities, and empowering Divyang students to achieve their full potential.
