In a landmark achievement for Uttar Pradesh’s healthcare system, Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGI), Lucknow, has successfully conducted the state’s first heart transplant. The breakthrough has been hailed as a transformative moment that could redefine advanced medical care in the region.

Speaking at a felicitation ceremony आयोजित for the medical team, Deputy Chief Minister Brijesh Pathak described the operation as a “milestone achievement” and a testament to the state’s rapidly advancing healthcare infrastructure. He emphasized that this success reflects not just clinical excellence but also the government’s commitment to delivering world-class medical services.

Pathak noted that SGPGI continues to attract patients not only from Uttar Pradesh but also from neighboring states like Bihar and even countries such as Nepal, reinforcing its reputation as a trusted healthcare destination. He highlighted ongoing government efforts to expand hospital capacity, particularly in critical care and ICU facilities, to ensure no patient is denied treatment due to lack of resources.

He also praised the efficiency of emergency and trauma services at the institute and urged doctors to remain compassionate, ensuring that every patient receives at least primary care, even in resource-constrained situations.

Additionally, the Deputy CM revealed that projects related to quality care enhancement and artificial intelligence integration in healthcare have been approved and are being implemented. He assured continued government support to elevate SGPGI to the top rank nationally and globally.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Director Prof. R.K. Dhiman and leading medical experts, celebrating a proud moment in India’s healthcare journey.
