In a major step towards enhancing workforce capability, Modern Coach Factory (MCF), Raebareli, launched a Welder Training and Skill Development Program on April 16, 2026. The initiative, inaugurated by General Manager Raman Krishnan, is part of the broader Skill India Mission aimed at improving technical expertise among railway and contractual staff.

Before the launch, the General Manager inspected the Technical Training Centre, closely reviewing advanced welding technologies including MIG-MAG, Arc, TIG, Portable, and Spot Welding systems. He emphasized the need to upgrade machinery with modern innovations to keep pace with evolving industry standards.

Highlighting the importance of the program, he stated that welding forms the backbone of coach manufacturing. The strength and durability of railway coaches largely depend on the quality of welding, making skilled manpower essential for superior production.

The initiative is particularly beneficial for workers who cannot afford training in major cities like Lucknow or Kanpur, thereby bringing high-quality skill development opportunities closer to them.

The training will not only focus on welding techniques but also cover crucial safety measures such as proper handling of gases, use of protective gear like welding goggles, and managing electrical voltage safely. This holistic approach aims to enhance both productivity and workplace safety.

Senior officials including Principal Chief Mechanical Engineer Vivek Khare, Chief Plant Engineer A.P. Soni, and Chief Design Engineer Kuldeep Singh were also present at the event. The program is expected to significantly strengthen both workforce efficiency and the overall quality of coach production in Indian Railways.
