In Badaun district, the administration has intensified its focus on student safety by launching a comprehensive inspection drive for school vehicles. Following recent school bus incidents in Aligarh and Agra, authorities acted on directives from the state government and the District Magistrate to ensure strict compliance with safety norms.
As part of the campaign, a total of 120 school vehicles across all tehsils were inspected under the Uttar Pradesh School Transport Rules-2019 (26th Amendment). The inspection covered critical parameters such as vehicle fitness, safety equipment, insurance validity, and pollution certificates.
During the checks, several vehicles were found with minor deficiencies, and school authorities were instructed to rectify them immediately. However, in a stricter move, two buses belonging to Mother Athena School were seized at the Regional Transport Office after being found unfit as per prescribed standards. Additionally, four other school vehicles were penalized for violations.
The administration has issued a stern warning to all school managements, stating that any negligence leading to an untoward incident due to technical faults will hold the school authorities directly accountable. Schools have been directed to ensure timely renewal of fitness certificates, insurance, and pollution documents, along with proper verification of drivers’ backgrounds and maintenance of all required records.
Officials emphasized that student safety remains the top priority, and such inspection drives will continue in the future to enforce compliance and prevent accidents.
