In a major push toward digital inclusion, Bank of Baroda has partnered with Reliance Jio to launch ‘bob World Lite’, a first-of-its-kind mobile banking app designed specifically for feature phone users in India.

The app will come pre-installed on the JioPhone Prima 4G, enabling users without smartphones to access essential banking services seamlessly. This initiative aligns with the Government of India and RBI’s vision of promoting financial inclusion and expanding digital payment access.

Unlike traditional mobile banking apps, ‘bob World Lite’ is built on a lightweight, low-bandwidth platform with keypad navigation, ensuring ease of use even on basic devices. It offers key features such as UPI-enabled payments, fund transfers, bill payments, recharges, and profile management, with more functionalities expected to be added in the future.

Dr. Debadatta Chand, MD & CEO of Bank of Baroda, stated that the initiative marks a significant step in extending digital banking beyond smartphones and reaching underserved populations.

Dr. Sunil Dutt, President of Reliance Jio, emphasized that the partnership reflects Jio’s mission to democratize digital services and make them accessible to every Indian at scale.

By combining Jio’s vast digital reach with Bank of Baroda’s strong banking network, the initiative is set to bridge the digital divide and bring millions into the formal banking ecosystem.
