A highly informative academic seminar on “Antenatal Assessment of Foetal Well-being” was conducted on April 25, 2026, in the Department of Niswan wa Qabalat. The session was presented by Dr. Aiman Kulsum Nasim, who delivered a comprehensive and well-structured overview of fetal monitoring during pregnancy.

Dr. Aiman began by emphasizing the importance of assessing fetal health during the antenatal period, highlighting maternal risk factors and the pathophysiology of fetal compromise. She explained both clinical and biophysical methods of assessment in a clear and accessible manner.

The seminar focused on various modalities of fetal surveillance, including fetal movement counting, ultrasonography (USG), Biophysical Profile (BPP), Cardiotocography (CTG), and Doppler velocimetry. The clinical indications, interpretation of findings, and subsequent management strategies were discussed with practical relevance.

The event was attended by esteemed faculty members, including Prof. Mani Ram Singh and Dr. Mariyam Roqaiya, along with postgraduate scholars from different batches.

An engaging discussion session followed the presentation. Dr. Fatima Siddiqui raised a query about the difference between Non-Stress Test (NST) and Cardiotocography (CTG), which was thoroughly clarified. Dr. Mariyam Roqaiya suggested incorporating practical case scenarios in future sessions to enhance clinical understanding.

Prof. Mani Ram Singh appreciated the presenter’s effort and recommended dividing such extensive topics into theoretical and practical sessions for deeper learning. He also commended Dr. Aiman for her efficiency in preparing the seminar within a short time frame.

Overall, the seminar proved to be an enriching academic exercise, enhancing clinical knowledge and encouraging interactive learning among participants.
