Unauthorized Constructions Face Heat, Demolition Notices Trigger Panic

The Kanpur Development Authority (KDA) has launched a major enforcement drive against illegal constructions and unauthorized plotting, sealing nearly 40,500 square meters of land under its Zone-1B jurisdiction. The action was carried out under the leadership of Special Officer/SDM Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh.
Two major sites were sealed during the operation. The first was located in Bam-Shahjani area of Shuklaganj, Unnao, where illegal plotting was being carried out over approximately 5,000 square meters without approval. The second action targeted the Dhiran area in Kanpur, involving around 12,000 square meters of unauthorized land development.
Authorities confirmed that both sites lacked approved layouts and necessary permissions, making them clear violations under urban planning laws. The sealed premises are now being handed over to local police stations, including Gangaghat and Bithoor, to prevent further illegal activity.
In addition to sealing actions, demolition notices have been issued in three separate cases involving large-scale illegal plotting. These include a 10,000 sq meter site in Bairi Akbarpur Bangar, a 3,000 sq meter site in Bagdidi Bangar Kachar, and another 10,000 sq meter site in Bagdidi Bangar. Developers have been given 15 days to remove the unauthorized constructions, failing which forced demolition will be carried out with police assistance.
Another case involves a G+4 unauthorized structure in Ganga Nagar Housing Society, covering around 500 square meters, where no approved building plan was presented. A show-cause notice has been issued, and strict action is expected if compliance is not ensured.
KDA officials have urged citizens to verify layout approvals before purchasing land and to strictly follow sanctioned building plans to avoid legal and financial consequences.
The authority has made it clear that such enforcement drives will continue as an ongoing campaign, signaling zero tolerance toward illegal construction in Kanpur. This decisive move is being seen as a strong step toward planned urban development and regulatory discipline.
